"Shoes" what does that mean to you?

Monday 29 October 2012
For my recent birthday I received this card ---->
Other than making me giggle, it made me think about what my definition of 'Shoes' is. To me shoes are the foundation of what takes us places and gets us moving, not that I am trying to discount any of my or your achievements in life by saying your shoes got you there, but for me the shoes have made the journey all the more fun. Every pair of shoes I own or have worn tell a story. Whether it is a story about;
When I bought them (skanking my way through Europe)
Why I bought them (some jerk broke my heart)
The event I bought them for (dates, weddings, parties, spraining ankles, new jobs etc)
And I love the fact that the shoes show a timeline on where I was at in that moment of my life ie when I first started my cadetship in the Accounting arena, I wore modest pale pink sling backs with a 2 inch stiletto heel purchased from Kmart for $10 and today I am wearing multicoloured 4 inch stiletto heels from the Guess concept store in Melbourne, price doesn't need to be discussed :P (Please see earlier blog post for a pic). Just a simple reminder of how far I have come and how much I have achieved.

Other shoe appreciators out there... what is your definition? Have you ever thought about shoes in the same way I have or am I truly addicted to shoes?

Party Feet - not just for Party Peeps

Sunday 28 October 2012
You are all probably familiar with Scholl's Party Feet http://www.schollpartyfeet.com.au/
The basic premise is to provide various parts of the foot with a comfy cushion bed to ease pain & pressure. I am a regular user of the Party Feet for the ball of the foot.
I spent Saturday night traipsing around the city of Sydney for my sister's hens night and was thankful to have the Party Feet in my sparkly stiletto platforms.

I have been an advocate for Party Feet for some years now, not only for their awesome capability of allowing me to walk home without being super classy & carrying my heels while i stumble home barefoot but they also allow me to shop the sales and buy shoes that are upto 3 sizes too big for me!!! This is definitely something to consider if you have ever found that 'perfect pair' of shoes but you have let them go because they were too big.

You will also be happy to know that you can pickup no name foot gel cushions from many discount stores for a fraction of the price if you wanted to try them out :D

Clip on earings = a must have for any shoe admirer

Wednesday 24 October 2012
Many many moons ago, I went to my year 6 end of school disco, which was flower power themed. My wise mother put together an awesome outfit and first introduced me to the exciting concept of using clip on earings as embellishment on shoes!
I had forgot all about this cheap way to jazz up any shoe until recently when my mum bought some clip ons to jazz up her 'Mother of the Bride' shoes and it reminded me about how good the idea it is.
During my previously mentioned trip to Melbourne I discovered that Rubi Shoes have entered the realm of 'Clip on' beautification, I hope it catches on as it is one of the best ideas ever you essentially get two pairs of shoes for the price of one!!!!!

These are the ones I purchased, do you think they look better with or without the bow? They don't appear to be listed on the Rubi website, but here is the link to the black version http://shop.cottonon.com/shop/product/removeable-bow-heel-black/

Melbourne is a shopaholics dream - agreed!

Monday 22 October 2012
My beautiful cousin had her wedding on the weekend, so I got to spend a fun few days with family in Melbourne.
On my previous visits to the self proclaimed shopping capital of Australia I was less than impressed, I had a failed visit to Bridge Road Richmond http://www.bridgerd.com.au/ (apparently the best shopping strip ever) and then a visit to Harbour Town Docklands http://www.harbourtownmelbourne.com.au/ in torrential rain on a Sunday so not many stores were open. They both left me wondering why Victoria's capital was named a shopping mecca when I didn't think it was and I couldn't figure out why others did!
After the weekend, I really need to retract my previous sentiments, Melbourne shopping is so good, but is it the best?! What do you think?
Just like me, my sister has a fashion addiction, hers involves dresses. Melbourne has 7 of one of her favourite stores - Forever New and Sydney has a measly 4, this is another basis for my support of Melbourne being an epic shopping destination.
Despite having a delayed flight on arrival and having a wedding to get ready for, my sister managed to buy tonnes of dresses and I was able to purchase 3 pairs of shoes, my favourite being these Guess heels (that were not available in the recently visited Parramatta Guess store or online from what I can see)

I am looking forward to further shopping adventures in Melbourne and being able to explore the city for all the best places to shop!!

Julia Gillard - Just like Cinderlla? You Decide...

Wednesday 17 October 2012
I woke up this morning and my BF told me that Julia Gillard (Our Prime Minister) had tripped over and lost her shoe whilst tripping in India. My initial reaction was to laugh, which I always do when someone falls, then I jumped to concern, I have often rolled my ankle in heels and even though Ms Gillard prefers heels of a much more modest height to myself I was still worried she could have hurt herself.

Here is a short and sweet video of her "trip" - http://www.heraldsun.com.au/news/julia-gillard-spread-eagled-as-she-fell-after-losing-her-shoe-on-a-visit-to-new-delhi-in-india/story-e6frf7jo-1226497905553

Ms Gillard even lost her shoes, talk about a dramatic tumble. Thankfully she picked herself up quickly, gathered her shoes and composure and continued her tour.

It does give rise to the problems many women face when wearing stiletto heels in grass, especially with the Spring racing carnival in full swing I think all of you that have a planned outing in the grass but still want to look awesome should check these out ----->

These products, which are available at many online destinations, will eliminate your high heels cultivating the grass and not only stop you having an embarrassing fall like Ms Gillard (certainly no guarantee if you are crunk & stumbling around!!!) , but also keep your stiletto heel clean!

It is my Birthday, time to shoe up!

Tuesday 16 October 2012
Wow, another year has passed and I am now 27. Birthdays are a day for each person to be a little bit selfish for the day and to push the boundaries on your normal day to day monotony - I cannot count the times today that I said "But, It's My Birthday" to get out of doing something I wouldn't ordinarily enjoy doing or to get something I wanted. So so so much fun! :P

Another way I combated the humdrum was shoeing up with a mismatched pair of glitter heels - one pink and one silver. And to top it off I had a matching badge that said "It's My Birthday!"
So easy to wear one shoe from differing pairs (provided they have the same heel height!), such a fun way to brighten up your day and those around you as they will surely crack a smile - hopefully laughing with you of course x

Snake print is here for the long haul

Monday 15 October 2012
To my utter delight, Snake print shoes appear to be around for the long haul, I bought these babies about 3 years ago, they remind me of a patchwork quilt (which my mum makes heaps of).

Wittner has these awesome snake print platforms on sale for $50.95. Do yourself a favour and check them out, my office neighbour has a pair in aqua and a second pair in white :) ----> http://www.wittner.com.au/sale/heels/atwell-aqua-snake.html

Shoe Crisis! Help!?

Friday 12 October 2012
So, going out this evening to celebrate being another year older :D

Here is where the crisis begins, being such a shoe fanatic I actually have 5+ shoes that would work with the dress I purchased to wear. I have narrowed it down to 3 pairs and would really love your help in deciding.

Here is the dress - $49.95 from Crossroads http://www.crossroads.com.au/MESH-GLITTER-DRESS.aspx?p4048271&cr=pya3__104713

and here are the shoe options, option 1 has flecks of purple, silver and blue, option 2 black glitter and option 3 silver white glitter.

all purchased from Forever New a few years ago, so you won't be able to find them, but here are some hot similar ones ---> http://www.forevernew.com.au/Misty-Diamante-Platform.aspx?p31593&cr=105719

Thanks for your help x

Stilettos turn Hi Vis!

Thursday 11 October 2012
On my return from a recent trip to Fiji, I walked into my office to find the brightest of bright shoes! Another shoe lover and my desk neighbour discovered these -> http://www.pulpshoes.com/product/Notice/?i=41494 they are $49.95 from Pulp and come in 3 crazy bright colours.

I knew instantly that I had to them!

Finally shoe designers are making shoes Hi Vis to attract attention from everyone, and obviously as well for safety reasons. Also poses the question; does this mean they can be claimed as a tax deduction now as they are now safety shoes? I will speak to the commissioner of taxation and get back to you!
