Red & Green should always be seen

Tuesday 25 December 2012
Merry Christmas everyone!

One of my fun Christmas traditions involves wearing one red shoe and one green shoe - obviously of the same heel height.

The only other day of the year that I do this is generally on my birthday, see my birthday post here.
Unfortunately this year due to inclement weather, rough terrain (steep driveways, a cemetery and a bush property) and my ongoing Skankle ankle problems detailed here, I had to wear something more stable and water friendly.

I decided on my fluro yellow / green mini wedge

perfect for the day, easy to clean the mud off and super quick drying. I first fell for these mini wedges months ago, please read about my journey trying to find another pair because I loved them so much here and guess what ladies?! You can now own a pair for a 1/3 of the price I paid, they are now onsale in the online rubi store for $5!!!!!! Check them out here

Merry Christmas everyone and hope you find some epic bargains in the boxing day sales, make sure you check out the online sales today, some retailers already have their sales online NOW!

Kitten heels in height and heart

Friday 21 December 2012
I have been a liker on Facebook of a page called Shoe Me Gorgeous for many months now, but I only became a buyer from this shoe lover on Tuesday this week.
I noticed on my daily Facebook forage (which is between 1pm-2pm) that Shoe Me Gorgeous was having a sale. I checked through the sale items and found possibly the most unique pair of shoes (not quite as unique as the ones I made myself hypothetically in this blog post) I have seen, and now I am proud to say they are part of my collection.

What do you think??

Not only am I super pleased with my purchase, but also the exceptional customer service from Shoe Me Gorgeous, here are the reasons why I am so charmed:
* Being so close to Christmas I asked the 'contact us' if it was possible to have two different delivery addresses depending on the date it was to be delivered. One being my work address and the other being my home address. I was told 5 minutes later that it wasn't a drama.

* Free shipping for facebook fans on that particular day, free shipping on orders over $70 within Australia, orders can be delivered across the globe (check the countries here) and you can pay via Paypal.
* Then 5 minutes later after placing the order, being such a scatter brain when shoe sales are involved, I remembered that I was going to be away from home after Christmas, so then asked if the shoes could be delivered to my parent's address. Again no drama.
* A few hours later Jessica confirmed the delivery time frame for the shoes, and I decided to risk them being sent to work. So I had changed the address 3 times in the space of a few hours.
* Today, to my utter delight, the shoes arrived at lunch time, on the last day of work for the year. Such great organising and shipping from Adelaide in the Christmas rush!
* I opened the box, it was beautifully embellished inside with pink tissue paper and tiny shoe and love heart confetti! I think it is a lovely personal touch that I have not ever had before, and I order tonnes of shoes online - check my last epic delivery here.

Please think of Shoe Me Gorgeous next time you are buying shoes online, they have a great range and unparalleled customer service. It is one of the most pleasant online shopping experiences I have had .

Learning to crawl before you can strut!

Sunday 16 December 2012
Since my most recent ankle injury <post here> I had been wearing flats, then graduated to a pair of conservative wedges.
Over the weekend I had my work Christmas party and decided that I HAD to wear platform stilettos, there really was no other option. I survived the night without toppling over, so today I recommenced wearing heels to work and think I chose well. What do you think? These have a decent heel height and have the little ankle strap so there is no way this shoe could fall off and potentially send me into another catastrophic ankle death wobble.

I bought these lovely heels on my semi recent Sydney shoe safari, check out the details here.

My SKANKle ankle history

Wednesday 5 December 2012
It is about time you all heard the on going saga that is my SKANKle ankle. Ever since I began playing netball (those of you not from Commonwealth nations here is a brief summary of netball), I have had issues with my ankles. This is a list of the foot related injuries I can recall from netball and other things:
  • Ankle roll x 4.
  • Ankle sprain x 3.
  • Ankle sprain with ligament tears x 2.
  • Cracked toenail from opposition jumping on my foot x 2.
  • Ankle sprain from the warm down in a Zumba class - not my most graceful moments.
  • & the most recent of all, both ankles sprained from tripping over my boyfriend's Havaianas whilst wearing my new Guess heels - check them out here, they are very hot!. It is quite funny when I relive it now, as I got an uncontrollable death wobble that I could not recover from, unlike the one in my post entitled "Silver lining of a high heel death wobble", I made a strange noise similar to a crow and fell to the ground in a heap and started sobbing, my poor boyfriend had to quickly run to the concierge desk of the hotel we were staying to get some ice. The one good thing I guess is I am now highly experienced in the treatment of injuries, in particular ankle sprains.
Here are some of my most colourful ankle injuries - enjoy :P
Right Ankle - 5th June 2012 - Netball Ligament Tears
Left Ankle - 20th August 2011 - Netball Ligament Tears
Yesterday I thought it was time to see my physio "Benny" about my most recent sprain, he has helped me recover from various ankle sprains but he also blames the wearing of high heels on all my injuries, so I was not keen to tell him how I had actually achieved the most recent injury.
Nervously sitting in the waiting room, Benny called me by saying "What have you done this time?" And once again lectured me about how wearing high heels can severely weaken the muscles around your ankles and shorten your calf muscles, resulting in problems with balance under pressure. I really don't know what he is whinging about - I am paying for his children's education hahahaha. But on a serious note, I have realised that high heels are doing some damage to my feet, ankles and legs and I have vowed to wear flats on the weekends and flats when I have alot of walking to do, keeping a pair of flats in my car for unexpected walking adventures will help this.

Fortunately being in my line of work means I can still wear heels (once I am recovered) because I get to sit on my butt for the majority of the day x

PS I am due for ankle surgery in April 2013 for the injury on my left ankle from the 20th August - I will need to start buying some pretty flats for my rehab!!!
